The MA Repay: CSN Program is designed to retain and recruit recent nursing graduates serving MassHealth members. In exchange for 2 or 3 years of service, the program awards student loan repayment to nurses who graduated from an accredited nursing program between January 1, 2018 and July 31, 2024.

Eligibility requirements

To remain eligible for the MA Repay: CSN Program, you must satisfy the below requirements during your service commitment:

Provide CSN service through at least one of the following eligible settings:
- MassHealth-enrolled CSN Agency
- MassHealth-enrolled Home Health Agency
- Enrollment as a MassHealth-contracted Independent Nurse

Work a minimum of 12 hours per week in an eligible setting.
Have a high school diploma with a Practical Nursing (PN) certification or an associate's, bachelor's, or master's degree in Nursing.
Have outstanding debt from a US financial institution related to your qualifying degree.
Are not participating in any other loan repayment programs. (Participation in federal public service loan forgiveness (PSLF) does not disqualify you from MA Repay.)

service commitment & award amounts

When applying for the MA Repay: CSN Program, you selected either a 2- or 3-year service commitment. Award amounts vary based on service commitment length and full-time, part-time, or per-diem status. Hours worked at multiple eligible agencies and/or as an independent nurse may be aggregated to determine employment status.

Full-time commitment: Minimum of 32 hours per week for at least 45 weeks per service year; or a total of 1,440 hours per calendar year
Part-time commitment: Minimum of 20 hours per week (but not more than 32 hours per week) for at least 45 weeks per service year; or a total of 900 hours per calendar year
Per Diem commitment: Minimum of 12 hours per week (but not more than 19 hours per week) for at least 45 weeks per service year; or a total of 540 hours per calendar year

You may change your employer organization twice during your service commitment, provided the new employment is at an eligible organization.

You must notify the MA Repay Program prior to changing your employment status during your service commitment. This includes reduced working hours, new employer organization, unemployment, family and medical leave, etc.
